Hi, and welcome to my page! I am a 45 year old kind of empty nester. I have raised 3 college-educated girls on my own. Now, I have more time to share some tips and tricks I've learned along the way as a girl mom.

Day 4: A Step Closer To Creating A Financial Freedom Plan

In yesterday’s blog which you can find here, I wrote that today my girlfriend’s and I were supposed to celebrate another girlfriend’s 40th in Carmel, CA. However plans did not work out for her, and she cancelled last night.

Since, I was already forecasting that I’d spend on food with friends (hence, why I tried not to eat out so much this week). I decided to take my youngest daughter out to lunch. I spent $75.63 on Dim Sum for the both of us.

After, she had to run some errands which took us to a few stores: Target, TJ Maxx, and Sephora. All stores I love shopping at! I mean come on now. These stores are all “fun” stores!

You would be soooo proud of me though. I didn’t buy anything! Well, anything I didn’t need. Because I did buy some things at Target like Tylenol, water, cereal, and Nature’s Path Toaster Pastries (basically, “healthy” Pop Tarts). I think I did pretty well because those were items we needed. I can finally see a glimpse of a financial freedom plan emerging.

The Toaster Pastries were def a treat though. But for the Tylenol, I used my FSA card! I mentioned in an earlier blog post, I plan on maxing out my FSA this year for tax benefits. Total at Target, I spent $14.56.

Again, I’m proud of myself because I feel like I did really well. Firstly, I didn’t spend much. Secondly, I got what I needed, minus the Toaster Pastries. Thirdly, I almost almost almost bought a pair of jeans at Target (which I know I don’t need but they had studs on the side). I scanned the jeans to see if it was on sale online and noticed it had pretty bad reviews, so I put them back down. Yay me!

In total today, I spent a $90.19 which was mainly on food. I have rarely walked out of TJ Maxx without purchasing something. I used to also go overboard at Target and would ALWAYS charge it on my Target Red Card to get the extra 5% off. But I never paid it off in full.

I’m learning…I’m really trying to learn how to create this financial freedom plan. Remember? A goal will work but it can only become a habit if you have a system in place, as I mentioned in my Journal Entry 2 which you can find here.

After our day out, I came home, did some chores, and worked for a couple of hours at my regular job. I didn’t end up working OT yesterday. Since writing and editing yesterday’s post took a lot longer than anticipated.

I didn’t get my walk in today either. That’s okay, it’s Sunday and it’s nice to have some slow days. I had a really nice day actually, hanging out with my youngest.

It’s 7:44pm, and I’m pretty tired right now. I think I’ll end this blog here so I can have time to edit and upload before I become a zombie.

Oh before I go, I wanted to also share that I think I’m going to sell one of my investments and use that money towards a debt I have. This specific debt pisses me off. I’m kind of taking it personally but I’ll share more about that in a later blog post.

I can’t make any decisions right now anyway because it’s Sunday and the stock markets are closed. I’m not sure if they’ll be open tomorrow either since it’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. I feel like I will go ahead and do it, sell my investments. That can be the kick start of my financial freedom plan!

Currently, I’m getting pretty tired to finish these sentences correctly right now. Sorry!

If you’d like to follow my journey in creating a financial freedom plan and a system that will keep my financial freedom plan sustainable for my lifestyle, please be sure to sign up for notifications on new posts.

How was your day today? Did you get to do anything fun? I would love to hear from you. As always, thanks for reading!

Love, Sutivi.
